Preparing Students to Lead Change
the Common Good
The Common Good program is an after-school leadership program that helps students become socially responsible leaders.
Schools, youth organizations, and community groups start a Common Good group led by an advisor, and Covering Soles provides everything needed to run it: the curriculum, tools, and ongoing support. Students learn to notice the problems in their own communities and take thoughtful action on them, using their voices, their peers, and their neighbors as tools for change.
Common Good treats leadership as a habit of paying attention, speaking up, and caring about the people around you, and students can start building it now.

FOUR: Take Action
Students share their ideas with peers and community members and put their plan into action, practicing persuasion, collaboration, and responsible leadership along the way.
How It Works

THREE: Build a Plan
With guidance from their advisor, students turn their insights into a clear, realistic plan for addressing the problem.
TWO: Understand It
Students dig into the issue: who it affects, why it exists, and what perspectives they may be missing. Listening comes before acting.
ONE: Spot the Problem
Students learn to look at their communities with fresh eyes and identify a real issue that matters to them and the people around them.
